An Amazing Piece of Animal Behaviour...
Here is that remarkable heron incident from last night. Apologies for the fact that it freezes now and again.
The whole event took over an hour, but here it is condensed to around three minutes.
Herons are great opportunists and would readily take an osprey egg/chick, even at the size they are now if it could swallow it.
This is a juvenile heron, not long out of the nest. Maybe its inexperience delayed its departure from underneath an osprey nest?
Monty first has a go at the heron, then it's Glesni's turn once she finishes her flounder.
An astonishing bit of animal behaviour made all the more profound by the haunting, wailing shrieks of the heron.
